Does anyone have the email address for Kirsten Brinkmann, as I and perhaps
some other Maltese lacemakers would like to participate in her project, so
I would like to contact her as, I believe, registration had to be made
until September (now).

be assured that my Project Lace Dress, which is so close
to my heart, will continue!
I also already feel guilty for not contacting so many busy lacemakers by
now. I promise that I will take care of everything as soon as possible.
I have already received many wonderful letters and laces, I would
Sue, I wrote to Kirsten very early on, when I first heard about the Lace
Dress, as I wanted to know if she would accept tatting, or not.
(Yes, she will if it is $40 thread or finer!)
It was quite a while before I got a reply, - so maybe wait a bit longer to
hear from her.
I hope it is going ahead
Sue,
I contacted Kristen earlier this year and got a response from her. It did
take several days before she responded.

Hi All
Does anyone know if the "Project Lace Dress" is making progress / going
ahead? I was planning to make a second piece for it next week, but
thought I'd see if it was still happening before doing so. I wrote to
the project organiser a couple of days ago, but haven't yet h
Thank you Jean! So glad you could ferret out a solution. It sounds like such a
cool project & I hope there are plenty of participants from Arachne.

Thank you for posting the form, Jean, and for the project information file
also.
I have no connection with the project either, just an interest in helping
spread the word.

Here's the text from the pdf, to whet your appetites for participating!
You'll need to follow the link

the dress and get the registration form. Jean, could you also upload
the pattern page?
Project LACE DRESS - Kirsten
This looks like a very manageable project to participate in. The
threads to be used have to be white or cream, and the biggest piece of
lace required is 2 x 4 inches (5 x 10cm); the smallest 1 x 2 inches.
There are 2 rectangles, 3 triangles and 1 square and all fit in less
than an A4 or letter

Hi everyone, and Susan
Thank you Susan for sharing the information about Project Lace Dress.
I find that there is a pdf file posted to the public Lacemakers group on
Facebook.
I hope this link is accessible, please let me know anyone, if not?
The Project pdf is top of the list. I think
Hello Susan and all,
astonishingly a lace dress isn't cold. Last time I was in Luxeuil I wore my
black lace-dress on saturday evening dinner. The day was rainy and absolutely
not warm. So I was really afraid to have cold all evening long.
But it wasn't so the dress, thinner than paper, kept me

It's by Lulu Guinness and there's a good picture here:

I see the lace pattern is embroidered onto the background fabric in metallic

with the line drawings from Le Pompe.

I went to the website to look more closely at the outfits. I noticed that

Subject: Lace Repair Question
Hi Jeri, and Lori !
There are lots of people in the Chapel Hill area who are proficient
lacemakers. And, many of them are in close contact with experts around
the world in the various disciplines of lacemaking. As president of

What if the lace was from a different dress and had been remade into
this dress? That might explain the darts and tucks. We know they used
to take lace off dresses and reapply it to new dresses.
On a tangent, that makes me suspect that's what I have with a length of
black beds that has been cut
