I used to get very angry with mistakes and when they happen occasionally
they nearly always appear in the most obvious place. I made abookmark
recently and its almost in the middle after a roseground pattern, forgot to
complete the twists after the forth pin on one side of the 4 only. I
started my garter recently and 3 inches further on when I have taken out
some pins at the top I found two similar errors. This time I am thankful
it will scrunch up into the middle gather when the elastic and ribbon hold
it and also I can sew some sort of motif over that area as its close to
where the end will sew in to the begin.

This is why I always tell my students not to worry if there is a mistake
in their work, as long as it doesn't change the thread path - it is proof
of it being handmade, as long as the same mistake isn't made in every
pattern repeat!
