Hi Vicki and lace list The squiggly line on E-L's patterns means twists - if you look at the photograph, there are twists in some of those half-stitch areas, and no twists in one of them. Leave them out if you'd rather. It also looks like the end bit of those h/s areas is done in CTC, to keep the two pairs coming out of the CTC area around the cross in line with each other.
