Hello all, As a Spanish lacer, I can say that the pillow of the postcard is like our vertical pillows. The bobbins are the traditional Catalonian boxwood bobbins used all over Spain. And even the pattern is a traditional model made in Camariñas and Almagro, a mixture of torchon and guipur. The

For those new to the list, last year I organized an exchange of postcards among fellow lacemakers to make the summer months a little more interesting for those unable to travel (like me) those who were travelling to conventions other places. Last year there were 48 participants, so I

I have seen that picture. It's lovely. One of my concerns with making separate strips to connect later would be consistency in length of strips. Of course, some easing can be done to adjust small differences, but the cloth would be smoother if matched pinhole to pinhole. For a solid

I appreciate the thoughts I have received so far on this project. I'm going to start a smaller version to test the construction techniques. Hum?? - is 25 x 20 really a small version? but would it look lovely on my dining room table in case I never tackle the full size one. :-) The steps I

Is it feasible to make one strip the right length, count the pinholes, and make sure you have the same number of pinholes in both sewing edges, and for all the strips? Also, obviously, that you're using the same spacing, or number of pinholes per inch in the pricking, and, preferably the same

The instructions I have for this tablecloth say to work the first strip as long as you need, and then take it off the pillow. Work the second strip until it is *nearly* as long as you need, and then carefully join at the pinholes of the two strips. You will then work the second strip until
