Lier is tamboured lace named after the town of the same name in Belgium. Some of the images in the Pinterest link quoted earlier are needle embroidered laces, not tambouring. I’ve put a short bit about Lier, and a link to working tambour lace onto my website

Dear all, Lier lace, (indeed Lier is a town near Antwerp in Belgium ) is a lace made by making chain stitches with a hook onto cotton tulle stretched strongly on a frame.Therefore a wooden frame is traditionnally used. The same method is used for Art Beading, used for the Haute couture in Paris.
