Hi fellow Arachnids, If the lace has ever been starched in the past these ‘age spots’ could be from weevil poo from the weevils attracted to the starch. They are very difficult to get rid of (the spots, not the weevils which get killed when the lace is washed. Look through the Arachne Archives

Over the years, I have read numerous articles addressing this issue. There are two "sub categories" IMHO, old collected lace and modern lace owned by the maker which has acquired the off-colors. The causes that seem most plausible to me are... Old laces have been infamously exposed to
