[leaf-devel] SourceForge Permissions Problem

2006-01-16 Thread Charles Steinkuehler
I've got my new server online, and am working on getting my LEAF mirror
up and running again.

The first problem I've run into is a permissions problem. I cannot
access the phpwebsite/images/announce directory, which does not have
group read permissions:

-bash-2.05b$ ls -ld phpwebsite/images/announce/
drwx--S--- 2 mhnoyes leaf 4096 Feb 25 2005 phpwebsite/images/announce/

If this directory contains secret stuff (ie: local mysql passwords or
something), let me know and I'll just exclude it from rsync. If it
contains web images (as would be implied by the directory structure),
please make this group readable so I can mirror it.

Thanks!

P.S. Mike: Let me know if you cannot login to the new system...I
transfered the leaf account, but may have to reset the password. The
new system is neo.steinkuehler.net, but may also be reached using the
previous basic.steinkuehler.net domain name as well. Note the ssh
keys have changed so you'll have do delete the .ssh/known_hosts entry if
you're on linux, or ssh will be very unhappy.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I removed the empty directory.
Please let me know if you see any other issues. Thanks.

Everyone,
I'll try to install Mediawiki on SF this week. I hope it's used for FAQs
and small HOWTOs, and replaces our old docmanager/c0wz content.

Hello Mike,
sounds good.
Do you intend to move the existing FAQ's/howto's to the new wiki in the
installation process?

Any news about daily.sh and auto-generation of the PDF's?

The main other issue I ran into was filepaths.

At first, I tried fixing these (ie: replacing references in the web
pages with correct entries for the mirror), but it wound up being too
much of a pain.

The current solution, which seems to be working fairly well is (note:
paths are from memory, so there could be a typo, but you get the general
idea):

1) symlink /home/groups/l/le/leaf/ to the appropriate location on the
local mirror.

2) Create /tmp/persistent/leaf/tmp/ directory, with temp permissions
(ie: 777)

There are still some issues (mainly with the rss/news stuff on the home
page), but I'll probably wait to do more work until you've done the wiki
thing, since that will probably require some tweaking, as well. It's
probably all stuff you can tweak if you have time and can login...
