To Jenny and Heather,
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas, I have been wondering how to enter

years of marriage so was just going to enter them in the notes. When you print

I'm not sure if there is a way to do if for an existing family file, but
you could have done it at the time of importing the Gedcom to create you
new file.
I think it is because Legacy saves on the fly. If you want to keep the
original file unchanged save a file with changes, I would suggest that you
open your file G, then before doing anything else, save the file with the
new name Gmonth. Then you will have 2 identical files can make change in

You can do this to a gedcom at the time you import into Legacy.
Alternatively, you can do this through Advanced Sourcing on the Tools menu.
I learned this by searching in the Help file for Sources and scrolling

It sounds like you renamed the original file instead of copying it.
If you did it within Legacy, you must use Save As, to create a copy.
Then make sure you are working in your new file.
Is it possible that the changes are only in the original file?
You can't write to two files at once.

Hi Debbie,
On import you have two different options to autosource the file.
You can attach a source to the Unspecified field OR you can attach a
source to every piece of data.
(or you can do this with Advanced Sourcing)
I don't like either way as it still brings their sources in as if
