I have been entering a lot of items into the General To Do List area. I have
also been printing them out for research.
Now I am finding that when I go back to the General To Do List to enter my
research results that the item has disappeared. And I know the item did exist
at one time
Hi Debbie:
There is a general to do section where I put items like you are talking
about, especially the LDS microfilms, which often cover various members of the
same family.
Under the View menu drop down to the ToDo List. This is a general ToDo list
for stuff that doesn't seem to

If you are talking about the screen Assigned Sources for name of person,
you can sort the sources.
At the left of the screen, below the Events portion, are two black arrows,
one up and one down. If you highlight the source, then use the arrow keys you
can move the source up

This started happening to me a few days ago. Some of the LUG emails went to
my inbox and some to the Junk box. Then all to the Junk box.
Probably meant that my Yahoo email spam filter is getting pickier.
So I set a filter so that all items from the group go to a Legacy
One way I do it is by the vital records certificates. For example, I have a gr
gr grandfather whose name is James BEANE on his marriage register with wife
Statia PATTERSON. On their daughter Susan's marriage registration, she lists
her name as Susan BEAM with father's name BEAM and mother
When I was working (I'm now happily retired and doing genealogy) my computer
guru gave me this following tip. He said that to always leave at least a third
of your hard drive free. He said that this gives whatever program you're
running plenty of room to process commands. I really didn't
You people are too funny for words. As a new user I do agree that Legacy is
great for genealogy. I, personally, think of the RINs as a something the
program needs to keep track of for its own sanity, and use my own ID number
for my ancestors. And the only time I seem to ask for help from the
Sherry:
Wouldn't you know it? Those guys at Microsoft are so computer savvy they
don't need the Help files. But us users do. And they probably just overlooked
that small point. Which is not so small, as almost every program, including
theirs, has help files.
Oh well, that's life in
I purchased the Legacy 6.0 version with manual and training videos a couple of
months ago. First I read the whole manual. Then I went through the Training
Video that came with the Legacy 6.0 Set up and program.
Today I started on the Training Videos - and wish I had done them right away

I'm an oldey also. But you are right. Legacy creates a shortcut to the
photos and documents that are stored on the computer.
What I do is to create a file on my desktop called Family Photos and keep
my photos in there. I organize the photos by folders - usually a folder for
I'm not sure if this is a factor or not. But from what I understand, a jpeg
file deteriorates each time it is opened, edited and resaved. I was told that
if you have items you may be editing a lot, you may want to scan and save them
as a tif format. It takes up more memory on the hard drive,
Jim:
I started with different files myself, but found duplication happening. For
example, with each line I had to put in the info on myself, brother and sister
and their families as we share the grandparents.
I have finally gone to a one file system and am using tags for each line.
