Hi All
When I look at my reports I have both RIN's and MRIN's and I only want one, the
RIN's. Is there someone who can explain what I have done and how to delete the
MRIN

Shellah,
In most reports under the tab Report Options rhe choice is for RINs *and*
MRINs or none. However providing you are not using the User ID for anything
else it can be set to be the same as the RIN - see OptionsCustomiseOther -
and then just display the User ID.
I haven't checked
Publishing Center Descendant Book Report Additional Index Options
Include a name index Include alternate names.
I checked the above option, but the alternate names don't appear anywhere in
the index. Am I misunderstanding what this feature is?
ALSO: Is it possible to not print
I have about 8700 names in the database, and there is one main ancestor
couple from whom everyone is descended. It looks like only about half of this
number is being outputted in the descendant book report. Is there a way to
include everyone in the database in an output report that
To include alternate names in the index you also need to include them in the
report - Report OptionsInclude.
On the same screen uncheck all the items relating to events and notes.

How many generations are you printing in your report? Check in the
Descendant Book report ‘options’ tab - just below ‘insert underlines for
missing …..’ there is the option to set the number of generations. Unless
you know exactly how many generations you’ve got, select All (the number 250

Could some one please tell me in simple terms how I can synchronize this

Mitch,
If you are still not getting the Indexes for the Family Group Sheets try
using the Reset button on the Report screen to reset the report options.
Then try using the Index Options button to turn on the Name and/or
Location Indexes you want.
The report should then include the Indexes

Yes, I got it. I think people are getting posting at different rates of
speed. Sometimes I see a response to a question and not the original
question for a couple days!

Yes, I have seen that mail.
You won't see your sent messages in gmail in your inbox (they are in
your outbox) until someone replies.

The following question derives from two events: (1) a recent reunion of a
dozen family members some of whom didn't know each other and their
relationships; and (2) the finding of several DNA related individuals.
The question is: can tagging be used to find to find the MRCA [Most Recent

Yes. I think that those files are automatically created when a new database

understand why anyone should wish so to do.

I think it is generally that way - but of course it is your choice.
My dad filed by Marriages (before computers, so before MRIN's) - and
generally filed everything with that person if they had married, so that if
he was looking to research one person, he had all the info together. I

Hi John,
The easiest way to find the Most Recent Common Ancestor is to use the
Relationship Calculator between the two people of interest (on the
Tools menu).
This can be printed as a simple chart and shows the line of both
people back to the common ancestor.
I think this is a Legacy Deluxe
Hi,
The FG, TC, and CB files are included in the backup of your Legacy
Family File. They're not crucial but if you have used the features
and saved Clipboards etc, you'd miss them. They're very small files

Hi Jay,
Currently there isn't a way to enter a homosexual relationship
properly as the structure of the database assumes that all unions are
male/female.
You can include the partner with the wrong gender and adjust the
wording in the marriage screen to fit. It will look OK in most
reports
Jay,
I have the same issue. My suggestion is to create a unique event where you
give the date and explain the facts. I wouldn't use the marriage screen as
the partner would then erroneously show as a legally-recognized spouse. It
isn't a perfect solution, but if you explain the software
Hi to both
I don't have an answer for you, but as the grandmother of a trensgendered

Thanx for the response. That works well for two people - but not trying to
identify and link a dozen. Or, I'm missing something. Thoughts?

Legacy ought to get with it, as should other genealogy programs, if we have
to trick the system to record the ways things are.

I am also interested in having a way to enter a homosexual partnership.
I want to enter it in a way that demonstrates the partnership. I would
appreciate Legacy looking into this. It now a part of many families.

At this time, the way the database is structured, linking same-sex
individuals isn't possible without extensive reprogramming time. Please go
to http://www.moss-fritch.com/legacy.htm for a work around. This info was
