Hi Alexa, I'm not sure what you are doing, but Legacy doesn't automatically update. You have to choose to update. Also there has been no automatic upgrade to version 8 or a conversion in 7 that forces you to upgrade to 8. Perhaps you loaded an earlier version of Legacy 7 and when you tried to

Alexa, The program does not automatically update. The only way it will update is if you tell it to. There are two ways to update. You can go to the Legacy Home tab and over on the right you will see if there is an update available. You can then click on the update if you want to install

[LegacyUG] Date Range for Quarters

In Legacy 7.5 I used to enter the range of Jan-Mar 1856 by typing 1-3 1856. This does not work the same in L8 as it converts the 1-3 into 1 Mar (UK Date). I do not like entering the date as Mar Q 1856 as this gets translated in GEDCOM to From Jan to Mar and I end up with a mixture of date ranges

Good question. Just realized that I probably have not been consistent with this. I generally have treated those in my family who, as it was termed at the time, *migrated* west from eastern Pennsylvania to Ohio, or from eastern Virginia to (now) West Virginia in the 1700's as a *migration* event.
