Betty,
Emails are usually sent in one of two formats: Plain Text and HTML, the
former is as you would get when using Notebook and the latter is the style
used for web pages. At one time it was the rule that only Plain Text could
be used on LUG, but that has (unfortunately) been relaxed.

Erica,
Your problem is being caused because you are opening a .fdb file that is
in a zipped file. That .fdb file is in a compacted form that Legacy
cannot use. In order to make the file usable Windows extracts the full,
uncompacted, file into the Windows\temporary files folder and it is that

Before cancelling the task, try pressing the Escape key. There may be a message

Not really. Dropbox is fine so long as you don't try and edit what it happens to
be working with at the same time.
Store your FDB files in one place, create backups in the Dropbox folder. From my

Betty,
Sorry I've not been around today, really busy. Mike, it is thought that this
happened due a power failure, and all the evidence points to a corrupt
database.
Betty, I would now follow the path which Dennis suggested, if that doesn't
work then uninstall/reinstall Legacy and use FileRestore

The only way I see to do this is to enclose the Event Notes in privacy

Bruce,
By sometimes... and other times do you mean in some reports print them and in
some reports not print them? (for the same events)
Or do you mean print some events and not print others in any given report?
And just to double-check: are you talking about just the Event Notes field?
Like,
Yes to your first guess on what I meant. I will always want to print the
events but sometimes I will want the notes and other times I may not want
them.
Yes to your last question.
Thanks for helping me clarify my question.

A very big thank you to all who have helped me straighten this out, especially

Yes, I think you have that right. I have been doing this for some time.
Some do not like this approach as it causes problems IF you open the same
file on different computers at the same time (which I must confess I have
done). That is my only problem with this approach.
