OK, I tried to import from Family Search and selected the CHECK FOR DUPLICATES
option but it still imported a bunch of duplicates which I then had to FINID
DUPLICATES and MERGE to get them gone…
What did I do wrong?

I may have messed up in my installation of V. 8. The icon on my desktop
shows Legacy 8 and after it shows (2) . Does this mean I have accidentally
installed 2 copies? I cannot tell, other than the (2) showing. When I
open it it seems OK. If there are two copies, how do I fix it?

No, it means that you have two icons to the same program.
Make sure you find the other one, and then you can delete one of them. The
removal of an icon will not remove the program.

You probably have just created a duplicate 'shortcut' instead. Right click on
each 'shortcut' and select Properties, then look at the name of the program in
'Target'. That should probably say C:\Program Files\Legacy8\Legacy.exe in
each case, meaning one program installation, and just two

Unfortunately, many of my census images have disappeared entirely since
upgrading to V8. I don't blame V8 for this, however. More than likely it has
been grandchildren playing games on my computer. Anyway, it is a long and slow
process to reacquire the images and link them

When start the relinker there should be an offer to create a list of
missing media. That will create a text list which you can open and
save in Notepad (or your default text editor) for later reference.

This is a known issue that occurs every time I unsubscribe for periods of time
while on lengthy travel. I later subscribe and receive confirmation but no
messages. I can, however, contribute to the list. Why has this problem not been
addressed and rectified?

The solution is very simple and has been mentioned on this list over and
over again. If you have subscribed to the list but are not receiving
email, all you have to do is send an email to support and request that they
subscribe you manually. There is no need to get upset about it.

The first one could have already been deleted. Meanwhile the second one with
the “(2)” remains as your only one in use. Windows is not smart enough to know
that the other(s) have been deleted. You can freely rename any icon to any
convenient name you wish….such as just removing the “(2)”. And

It may be a mailing list completely separate to Legacy, but it must
surely create extra work for the support staff, and also very

You could print through the View Scrapbook but there are better
ways of printing one picture.
Open it in your picture editor.
If you don't have one, try one of the free ones.
