I'm thinning my collection a bit, so I have for sale my Powerbook 180c. It's in excellent cosmetic condition (easily 9/10). It has the max ram installed, 14MB, and a 150MB hard drive, running MacOS 7.5. It has various vintage software and games on the hard drive. Of note, at some point, the bottom cover was replaced, so it is labeled 165c on the bottom, but the rest of the laptop is original 180c, and this is what it says on the bezel below the screen. These models shares the same case, so at some point, someone must have swapped it for cosmetic reasons. I does not come with a battery, as I don't have one that holds a charge. It is also missing the back cover, that covers the ports. The active-matrix display is clear and bright.
It runs well, but has 2 issues. First, the sound is not working. I suspect that it needs to have a capacitor replaced on the logic board for that. Second, on occasion, it is reluctant to start. I suspect that the power port is loose, and needs to be re-soldered, as it generally works once I unplug it for a bit, and then plug it back in and hit the power button. It's been largely sitting in a box since I acquired it some 15 years ago, so I figured I'd see if there's anyone out there who is both a collector and looking for a new project. These are pretty rare in good condition, and as it’s almost 30 years old, I'm selling it as is. Again, I'm selling just the laptop, no battery, and no AC adapter. Asking $120, including insured shipping via priority mail, in the US. It will be well wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in a priority mail box. -- Hal Widlansky Salt Lake City, UT 84108 -- You received this message because you are a member of the LEM Swap group.
