Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the default
behavior in modern versions of lftp.

>From the manual:

    ftp:use-site-utime (boolean)
         when  true,  lftp sends 5-argument `SITE UTIME' command
         to  set  file  modification  time  on  uploaded  files.
         Default is true.

    ftp:use-site-utime2 (boolean)
         when  true,  lftp sends 2-argument `SITE UTIME' command
         to  set  file  modification  time  on  uploaded  files.
         Default  is  true.   If 5-argument `SITE UTIME' is also
         enabled, 2-argument command is tried first.
