Re: [lftp] [Enhancement] Option to specify config file
Ok, that option is just what I wanted. I don't think this option should skip /etc/lftp.conf too. The option name (norc) is quite descriptive about rc (user) file no system file. I didn't find that option because: 1. The 'lftp -h' doesn't show this option. $ lftp -h Usage: lftp [OPTS] site `lftp' is the first command executed by lftp after rc files -f file execute commands from the file and exit -c cmdexecute the commands and exit --help print this help and exit --version print lftp version and exit Other options are the same as in `open' command -e cmdexecute the command just after selecting -u user[,pass] use the user/password for authentication -p port use the port for connection site host name, URL or bookmark name 2. In man file the options of lftp command are near the end, when I think they should be at the beginning. 2015-03-18 8:13 GMT+01:00 Alexander V. Re: password and security
It's insufficient. lftp should save the password in encrypted mode. Regards. You can bookmark the connection. Yes, the password is stored in plain text in ~/.lftp/bookmarks but connecting with the bookmark will not let the password be seen in all the other places you list. See: bmk:save-passwords . It's probably not a good enough solution for you. I thought I'd just mention it as it seemed relevant. lftp 4.2.3 PureFTPd 1.0.32 Ubuntu Lucid 64 bits When I try to download, with mirror, large folders (for example: Bluray disc folder), lftp randomly hangs in middle of download. I've tested with vsftpd, PureFTPd, with and without firewall, but lftp still fails. In local I only see the hanging connection with *Waiting for data connection...* message and nothing abnormal in log FTP server. I think the problem is in lftp because I'm using now D4X (Downloader for X)http://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/downloader-for-x-a-powerful-download-manager-for-ubuntu-linux/, an old download manager (*it uses FTP protocol*) that it mirror folders with multi-thread and it doesn't fail. net:timeout
Hi, In manpage says: net:timeout (time interval) sets the network protocol timeout. What is time interval? Seconds? Minutes? Does this value relationship with this data_connection_timeout (The timeout, in seconds, which is roughly the maximum time we permit data transfers to stall for with no progress. If the timeout triggers, the remote client is kicked off.) from vsftpd? Regards.

Hi, I've just seen the new version of lftp and I've seen that Alexander has introduced some changes solicited in this mailing list. I greatly appreciate their efforts and work. Thank you very much. By other side, I see no way to donate money for this project in the official website (http://lftp.yar.ru/contribute.html). Any PayPal account or similar? Regards.
