Fixing a small mistake
that I have spend precious time on in the
past, to test and confirm, now are reset to unconfirmed...

If the goal is that the issues are retested for some reason, then pls

But when bughunt sessions are done at RC2, it can be easily too late to
fix issues found in x.y.0.
Therefore: get many people test early (beta1, 2) for general testing,
and special testing for l10n in RC2.

And you're fully right that the internvetion of hidden options that have
been set, is a stupid thing. (IIRC there has be done some commit around
this, possibly in master?)
