I disagree. In my opinion the global settings dialog is the right place for it,
because my intuition tells me Slideshow settings are per-slideshow and
shouldn't last

No, I do not try LO 4.
I completely remove LO and now use Apache OpenOffice 3.4.1. For my needs AOO
3.4.1 is more stable then LO (this is my own opinion). For example my other
