I just made a very important discovery: the "images" missing are not actually
just images but groups!! So probably they are "objects" not images. Looks like
libreoffice has issue with groups!

I'm struggling with the this bug also.
In my case it happens when I apply a filter on and off. If I save the document
afterwards, then many images are "lost".
