Currently text rendering on Mac OS X is very buggy and unreliable. I am sure
nearly all Mac OS X LibreOffice users will relate, there are lots of problems.
Distorted text, not displayed typefaces, not rendered glyphs...
My humble opinion is switching to Coretext would really be a good idea.
