Hi David,
it is on the same page in the docs:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation/multiple-voices
The normal \voiceOne and \voiceTwo contruct shows each voice with their
stems (and slurs etc.) in different directions.
Partcombine is exactly for the case you don't want: to print
Is there a way to combine two voices and print both stems (up and down) when
the voices share a note? \partcombine does not appear to do this by default.
American SATB hymns are typically engraved with the soprano and alto voices

This should work:
\override Script.script-priority = #0
That will make the fermata go closer to the note than the text. Any
value less than 200 should work. I'm not sure what the usual value of
a fermata is. I'm surprised it gets positioned above Text by default.

(Second try; my earlier attempt seems to have gotten lost at the post
office. I’ve taken the opportunity to learn more, but my questions
still hold, so here goes.)
Here’s the relevant parts of my code trying to replicate the attached score:
\version "2.19"

Hi all,
is it possible to change the size of the StaffSymbol along the way
through a score? My impression is that
\override Score.StaffSymbol.staff-space
has an effect only when applied in a \with block or at the very first
start of a Staff.
However, I don't see a reason for that

Some sort of Chinese combat technique, obviously :-)

Hello Andrew,
QuiZi is just an abbreviation for "Quinten-Zirkel", and this is in
English "circle of fifths". :-)

JSBI1.ly is a sample document (Bach Invention No. 1) that demonstrates
the syntax.
It includes some insane tempo changes and a bad layout to force pages
with a variable
number
Update: maybe it will be a good idea to change the notenames to English using
Frescobaldi before publishing the code in the LSR.

Hi Manuela,
Don’t apologise! It’s a really wonderful piece of code!
But can you tell me what QuiZi means in the code? That one I could not
figure out.

Hi,
I am the author of the snippet. I want to apologize for the inconvenience
caused by my code snippet by using German note names and variable names. I
wrote this code for me and had the idea of putting it into the LSR later.
In the meantime I am not satisfied any more with the code at all,
