In the following minimal example, a repeated stanza is showing up
under the PianoStaff. Of course, I would need it to be under the
first stanza, above the PianoStaff. Am I missing some setting,
how can I fix this? Any help much appreciated :)

I'm trying to reduce the line width in a custom header template,
having several lines combined in \center-column. I tried using
the \vspace command, which seems the only thing in the docs
slightly related to line height, but it doesn't seem to handle
negative numbers.

Hi Jethro,
you can use \override #'(baseline-skip . 0) \center-column {} to
change the spacing.

You could try telling us the version of LilyPond you are using. With
the current development version, this moves the third field right into
the first one. So you are obviously using something else.
I'm using 2.17.14
Oh, that's an unstable version anyway.
Reading the docs, I see that a command like \rightHandFinger can be
abbreviated to \RH, or any other alias, using alias=#command.

In my (minimal) example below, I'm having trouble with displaying
dashed barlines in the middle of the bar. Probably the first
occurance of the tuplets in the violin - a figure which is running

I believe this approach, especially for new users, is less abstract

If you want to force the display of an accidental, you can append
an exclamation mark to your note, like this:

You can also put the natural (or sharp or flat) sign between brackets,
by using the question mark:
e4 f e4. des8 c8 | d?4 e

It seems like the modern-straight-flag style is no longer supported.
I used to set this using \override Stem #'flag-style = #'flag-style, a
syntax that now appears to be replaced by \override Flag #'style =
#'flag-style.
Is there a way to still use this style?

Why the urge to change? When \times has been used for such a long time,
replacing it with tuplet or advanced arithmetics would make things far
more difficult. I don't see the problem with the current system.

So, for instance:
