Wol,
The bit about trombones in bass and Bb treble; I've only ever heard of Bb
treble clef trombone in British brass band music. What is the "American bass
part" in Bb? I've never heard of such a thing. I know that Richard Strauß wrote
tenor tuba parts in Bb bass clef.

I want to remove a key change from the ends of lines/systems. I am *not*
referring to just key cancellation, which I do also want. I mean, at the end of
a line the new key should not appear before the new line. I haven't worked it

Is there an accepted normal practice for page numbering when music is printed
2-up on both sides of a sheet? Are the pages numbered at all? To be more
specific, if I have four A4 (USletter) pages printed 2-up on A3 (11x17) are
they normally numbered and, if so, what is the first page number?

Does LilyPond know how to do this without resorting to using \markup? The
dots over the stemDown note also looks too far right. I could adjust it on a
case-by-case basis but that seems rather tedious if LilyPond can do the dots

Hi John,
I suspect you'll have to write out your pattern in C major and then A minor
first, and then transpose the pair all the way through the other keys. Be
aware that you should be able to use '\key c \major' for the C maj. and A min.
pattern.
Hope this helps,

Alternative key signatures like this are also used to save space in a book of
musical exercises. Rather than print out the exact same think in a key a

Try this:
Change \partial 2 to \partial 4
"\partial 2" means that the first measure contains a half-note's worth of time.
It does *not* mean the first part of the measure you want to leave out. You

I've made my first attempts with \cueDuring. I have it working but I've hit a
small snag. The part being quoted has slurs which I want to appear in the cue.
I found how to add various *-events to cues in order to add slurs. The
problem is that the slur in question ends *after* the quoted

I want to compress a specific measure horizontally. It contains a full measure
rest and nothing else. I have tried various searches but have not found how to
do this. Can someone point me to the place in the docs where this is explained?
Thanks,
David

Very briefly;
I think of it as building scores rather than extracting parts. I keep my music
definitions for all the parts in one file and then make scores, which may only
consist of a single part. I use an '\include' to call make the definitions
available. maybe this will help:
A friend retired his Mac G5 and gave it to me. I have installed Debian on it
and wanted to get LilyPond installed as well. In the download section of

the PPC binary is 32-bit as I get this when running the install

allow them to move into the staff. I have not managed to find an example of

I'm having a problem with chromatic scales and \modalTranspose. According to:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation/changing-multiple-pitches#modal-transformations
it should be possible to do what I want. Ascending passages work as expected.
Descending ones do not. I get an

I'm setting a piece in which the staves do not always have the same time

my problem. In my example here, when the outer staves have synchronous bar
lines they cut through the middle staff. This occurs when outer
