So is there a relatively simple block device driver I can use?
Even a howto would be useful. I understand how to get the NSS bit working
but linking with Linux is more of a challenge.
Thanks

Hi all,
I have installed Debian390 under zVM, it works fine,
but whenever I shutdown Debian, I cannot IPL it again,
it goes to disabled state, it cannot mount root
filesystem. But when I recycle z/VM, I can IPL Debian
again. It happens every time. I think it is something
with zVM settings, but as
I found it in the meantime, ipl clear was the magic
touch :)

We have the new MQSI (WBIMB) 5.3 installed under LINUX/390 (SLES8).
The applications here are very dependent on the MQGet plug-in.
IA09 MQSeries Integrator MQGet Plug-in supportpac?
I have not been able to locate the package for linux.
Is anyone using MQGet with linux?

Actually, there *is* (or was).
Rob van der Heij did one some time back.
I do not know the status of that. Rob, wanna speak up?

Hi list,
Has anyone worked with password aging (/etc/shadow and LDAP shadowAccount)?
I have tried many permutations on /etc/pam.d/login and sshd, and
/etc/nsswitch.conf. When I come in to a SLES-8+SP2 Linux via telnet and ssh
with a local user and LDAP user who both have expired passwords, I have
Is anyone aware of a tivoli client that works on RH EL3 (taroon) beta?
I grabbed the TIVsm 5.2.0 RPMs, but got failed dependencies for
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3. So I checked redhat's ftp site and there's no
compat-libstdc++ RPM there. The only compats I saw were compat-db and

Daniel,
I installed TIVsm-BA-5.1.6-0 and it's working.

I believe you need to add this entry to /etc/openldap/ldap.conf:
pam_password crypt

I tried that version too, failed with same dependency.
What does a rpm -q --whatprovides libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 return for
you on that image?

You need to install the compat-libstdc++ package in order to resolve
that dependancy.
For s390 there is only a compat-libstdc++-2.10.0-1.s390.rpm package
available that provides libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3, but there will be a
compat-libstdc++ package for RHEL3 that provides

John,
1 - Yes, you always have to worry about differences. Linux Standard Base is
helping with that, but it's still a concern. Different versions of glibc,
other shared libraries, etc., etc., etc.

Guillaume,
You can have multiple major numbers used for DASD devices, but my point was
to avoid using DASD at all, and use straight SCSI to the storage array.
