Hi, There's a (very large) support matrix here: http://www.emc.com/collateral/elab/emc-support-matrices.pdf On p. 1213-1214 (pdf p. 1244-1245) there's zLinux (RHEL) information. The footnotes are a bit confusing though. It indicates 'Powerpath not supported', but not for each update. One of

I'm finally in the process of firing up some boxes under VM to replace some aging AIX critters and I could use some advise as to real memory and swap allocations for these new guys. 1st victim was a DB2 connect enterprise unlimited server - cut it to production 2 weeks ago and everything is good.

Way too much V STOR on each of your guests. Try reducing it substantially and backing with prioritized swap-on- vdisk after measuring actual memory requirements. *IF* your migration sources are actually using all that memory for something other than cache, you're going to have a painful

We are going into production, tomorrow, with DB2 Connect Server V9.5 fixpack 2. A Cashier system, with about 8 users. I'm on 160 MB virtual, 1 3390-9 drive, two vdisk swap files (about 10,000 4K swap pages used over 3 weeks). This is on a z/890, with the IFL about 20% busy. And no VM paging.

Bear with me while I'm learning, please. you say to reduce the real for my virtual machine from 246900k and the swap from 3G ? My DB2 is already complaining that there is not enough memory to allocate any bufferpools - so I would have guessed growing the real to 1G. Maybe you were looking at the

Our prod DB2 Connect enterprise is running at 1G now. Dev has 600M. You likely need more there. He doesn't do well if he has to swap a lot. Odd things happen. For the 2 that have existing boxes you can probably get current stats off them. I don't know how to do it in AIX, but the free

OK - thank you. Your short confusion actually helped clear up some of mine - not all, but enough for this trip. We will try 512M of main and keep a close eye on swap for now. Bruce Adam Thornton athorn...@sineno mine.net

My Connect server is at 256M with 768M swap ( dunno how it landed there ) - I usually have around 60 connections through it and expect to see up to 500 or so. Nothing like your slow down yet - though it sounds like our typical luck. Last time I saw anything similar on DB2 for z/OS was when I
