Looks like someone changed /etc/security/limits.conf or pam configuration... This happens when following Oracle's documentation on Oracle 10g install for s390x. To solve this, you have to connect by ssh and get rid of the failing module (/var/log/messages can tell you what to remove). Mauro

Hi, I am trying to tar several directories to an LTO-3 tape using lin_tape, IBMtapeutil and tar. I open the tape device and then issue the tar commands. When I check the tape contents with tar tvf, I only see the last directory. I am not sure if I am not using the tar command correctly or if

Borrow a Java profiling tool and have a look at what the application is doing. That's a very unusual usage pattern. Check the frequency of garbage collection and heap sizes. Also, is the blade running multiple guests? Sounds like not; apples vs oranges comparison, then.
