I was curious if anyone had any experience with running VERITAS
NetBackup (specifically 6.5.4) for Linux on System z (SLES10)? We've
noticed extremely high amounts of memory usage when VERITAS is running a
full back up of a server; end result is swapping to disk.
Scenario prior to full back

restores... the connection keeps getting interrupted.
Anyone have this working? It's on SLES 9 sp 2.

I don't remember if it's 5.1 mp2 or mp3.
Since Symantec(was Veritas) only provides a generic tar file I can't

We are running Upstream on our z/Linux (SLES8) with the server address
space running on z/OS and are very pleased
with the product. We were in the same position running Veritas as our
standard Wintel backup utility and had to find an
alternative.

We use FDR Upstream, been very happy with it for both file level recovery
and disaster recovery but you do need to run the main process in z/OS which
is a drawback to some.
