seems the distributors/community is standardizing on extn file systems.

I cannot speak for what will happen with SLES, but the openSUSE
project
has made ext3 the default file system, while still shipping reiserfs.
I
would imagine that discussions are taking place about whether to do
that
in SLES or not. From what I've read about the openSUSE project's

Debian also defaults to ext3. Others are present, but not
particularly encouraged. XFS has gotten good press for
the cases where JFS or reiserfs was originally recommended.
XFS excels at deleting large files quickly. Other than that, the

Was wondering if anyone here has done some performance testing with
Mysql databases and various filesystem types, like ext3, reiserfs, xfs
and so on. I've seen some tendencies on google searches toward reiserfs
for Mysql, but that's on Intel physical systems. Given that reiserfs

going to be installed by an application vendor -- so I can't check it. The

preferred to mount it at the MySQL default data directory

Probablly depends on whether you use a package
to the install from
source, although I might have to upgrade my glibc for that.
Thanks,
Jon

Yes, I got the two packages from different places. Rather than trying to
