I use the console for simple command line things like restarting a service
or yum update. If I really need things like vim I go to the iucv method
when ssh isn’t working.

Just fyi ... IBM Tape Manager for z/VM supports EMC's DLM for z/VM. The
Admin Guide (SC18-9344) provides details on configuration. In short,
while the DLM acts like a VTS, Tape Manager treats it like manual tape
drives since the DLM intercepts the LOAD DISPLAY.

Implementing DLm with VM:Tape is fairly easy. Does not use DFSMSrmm. I set it
up several years ago at UnitedHealth/Optum. No longer have access.
I passed on doc to Rick Barlow several months ago, so he may be able to share
his experience.

Haven’t done it myself, so just speculating, but:
Do you have a tape manager, like VM:Tape? Standalone it’s pretty grim, but it
might work better if you were able to manage it via that route. The CA folks
are used to weird tape configurations, and since they go through the DFSMSrmm
interface
Greetings List,
We're getting ready to try an replace our IBM 7720 VTS's with EMC DLm's
and have not heard about any real fully successful migrations for use with
z/VM and Linux. Any info that can be shared is appreciated.
Thanks,

I have RHEL 7 system on a mod-9 (10016 cup) ECKD DASD and want to move it
to a mod-27 (32759 cyl).
The disk is not in use, I used zVM/CMS to DDR the disk to the larger one.
Then I attached it to a zLinux system to format the back end of the disk.
After that I would remove the last partition and
You really need to own your configuration, including command aliases and
what-not.
I don't mean to minimize your astonishment, but the lack of that alias
is not a flaw in ClefOS.
Command aliases must be set in your "RC files".
Unfortunately, too many people put *everything* in the RC files, much
I forgot to put a subject. Now there’s one. :-)
