I have been tasked with moving our z/VM and zlinux file system volume from an
old DASD system to a New DASD system.
All of my device numbers / unit addresses will change.
I have been successful in moving all of the z/linux volumes.
My problem is how to move the 6 VM volumes since the IPL text
When you use dasdfmt in linux add the -l volser option to reapply the VM volume
label.
When a full pack minidisk formatted with dasdfmt will look just like an z/OS
volume with a vtoc with 1 - 3 datasets and can be backed up by DFDSS on a z/os
system.

This will not help you in your current situation.
I always allocate a full mod3 volume as my root (boot) drive.
After the system is built I fill the / directory with a dummy file such as
KERNEL.DCSS.SEGMENT, that is all blanks but encrypted.
It looks like a file with code it it.

I would like to thank all of the responders for all their suggestions as they
were very helpful.
Removing the xstore from the vm 630 solved the problem; paging dropped to near
zero and aux storage usage has dropped to 1% from 96%.
We are now using the z13 which has solved my cpu utilization
I am a systems programmer at Primerica Life Insurance.
We have been running SLES linux under VM for nine years.
We only have four production VMs on one lpar using a single IFL.
We will be installing a Z13 in Jan 2016 which has required me to upgrade all
SLES 10.3 VMs to SLES 11.4 and VM from 540
My kernel parm has cmma=on.
Is there a way to display that it is actually active?

When I reply to someone who replied to me, the message is garbled like the
following which looks like radix64.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
