the 'axports' file have a copy of axports in their /usr/local/etc/ax25
directory ?
Yeah, me I've gotten into the slightly goofy habit of copying all my
config files to BOTH /etc/ax25 and /usr/local/etc/ax25.

and the rest is just cleaning up of the configure script so it detects
