mandrake 7.1 Font problems

HI all.. I installed Mandrake7.1 (selected hebrew in installation)_ and now i have various font problems 1. I am unable to change gtk font.. it change the name in gnomecc and save it to file.. but nothing happens to any gtk apps.. it still sits with defualt font that was selected at

cannot get terminal line dev=ttys0

We used to connect to modem by typing mgetty on server. Now we replaced the server to a new computer. We took the disk, modem, etc. Since then the modem does not respond to incoming calls. We get the massage: cannot open line /dev/ttys0: input/output error Thank you for helping.
