Recently I have feeling that my PPC Linux
is much slower (network, scheduling,
flash I/O) then similarly equipped AMD board.
I can not say where is the problem - hardware,
operating system or users' applications..
I'm looking for set of Linux utilities that
can check hardware/OS

It is probably true. From my experience, with various versions of gcc,
PPC code runs on a G4 (7450) at about the same speed
