I have a little question about NIS.
If i will install a NIS client on my mail server
will it work ?
Now i'm opening an account but i really like to use
one passwd database instead to have one on each computer (i have
4).

In fact it will, though getting YP to work is not a trivial task.
But technically you could use one NIS master server, distributing
passwords to your other servers. And If you YP server uses shadow
passwords it gets even more complicated. I used it to set up dial-in

If you ask if it will hard your mail server. probably not.

if you'll read the faq carefully, you should not have any problem.
i have configured NIS on 5 stations + 1 server in 1 hours + 2 reading
all the documentations.
But
