El Torito boot (alternate boot)

2001-07-08 Thread Ariel Biener

  Hola,

mkisofs has the following option (from the man page):

   -eltorito-alt-boot
Start with a new set of "El Torito" boot parame
ters. This allows to have more than one El Torito
boot on a CD. A maximum of 63 El Torito boot
entries may be put on a single CD.

Theoretically, this means I can boot more than one image from a CD. In
reality, my question would be: How do you chose ? There is no - boot
menu with options.

  Any experience with it ?

Hi

I think that Slackware had the same problem, and they used isolinux to solve
it (in slackware8 they let the users to choose which kernel they want to
boot, 2.4, 2.2 etc)
See http://ftp1.sourceforge.net/pub/slackware/slackware-8.0/isolinux/
