Ron, it appears that while Tumbleweed upgraded the kernel version, it
didn't upgrade the usb_modeswitch version. You probably need a newer
version to support that device. I just checked

We're going to need the version numbers of both the kernel and the
usb_modeswitch utility from both openSUSE 12.3 and Tumbleweed if we're
going to make any sense of the situation.
