i'm a newbie to linux.
i have a problem in booting.
i had linux(RedHat 6.1) on /dev/hda4 previously
and to install Solaris i shifted the partition and now
the linux partition is on /dev/hda3.
so i'm not able to boot linux and i cant afford to
loose my files
so please help me

Look in your BIOS settings under the 'Power Management' section. There
should be an entry there, probably called 'power loss recovery' or something

I just checked this on one of my ATX
setserial doesn't do what you think. It changes the IRQ that the /dev/ttyS*
entry looks to for a device. It does not change the IRQ of the physical
device in the system. So the modem is still on IRQ4, and now /dev/ttyS2
points to the wrong IRQ.

ust migrated from Windoze to Linux (Mandrake 7.0) and have the
following trouble when starting:
I get en error message telling me /eth0 could not initialize.
My ethernet adpater is NE2000 compatible, and works ok under Windoze95.

sequence you get it.
I surmise it is an ifconfig error. If so, check earlier to see if the ne.o
module is loading, and if it is, what it says about finding a NIC.

Snapshot is in the KDE menu and works OK with that.
Maybe it's somewhere on your system if you did a
full install and have a KDE menu entry.
