I get lots of SCSI errors when I copy data to my external HDD. The
problem occurs with 2.6.10 and 2.6.11

I am working in a project for which,while the Linux 2.4.20 boots up,
the existing usb-storage module has to be removed and a new usb-storage
module has to be inserted . I tried to many options to do it...but hopeless

You might also want to give a try to libhid
which is a userland HID library, based on libusb.
It's not complete, though it should answer your need...
