That one looks really wierd for a storage device. Here are a couple of other examples; Y-E Data 7-in-1 (the extra thing is a normal floppy to replace your internal drive, seems like a neat idea); T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00

Getting closer. OK, I compiled a new 2.4.21 that had the core IDE stuff built-in rather than modularized. Now the usb-storage kernel module loads. Installed hotplug. /proc/bus/usb/devices now exists. Here it is: T: Bus=02 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2 B: Alloc= 0/

That's a strange error, I've never seen that one. Do you have an upto date modutils installed? Sometimes (but I didn't think so for 2.4.21) you need make sure you have the latest and greatest of modutils when you upgrade your kernel. Check out the FAQ at http://www.linux-usb.org/ for a pointer to h

Hi, folks. I've got two USB CF readers here, and I can't get either one of them to be recognized by the kernel. One is an Atech Pro-9, and the other is a Viking Intelliflash. Kernel is 2.4.21 with all the usb-storage options turned on. Syslog dump of attaching each in turn is attached below.
