Hi, My soundcard is finally working in Linux, thanks to mandrake 9. It uses Alsa for the sound. My problem is that XWindows (I am running KDE and Gnome) blocks the sound so XMMS donst work. I get this error: /dev/dsp: device or resource busy How do I clear all output to /dev/dsp to use

Hi, I discovered I need a new kernal and am currentally downloading the source. Is there a way I can get the new kernal to have all the options that the old one has? I need to add some modules but apart from that I want everything to be the same. How do I do this. I am running Mandrake 8.1 .
