Hi,
Fedora core 2 is going to be a demand. Two things::
1st, 256 meg of mem is the realistic minimum of memory for X/KDE etc.
Fc2 will run on 160 or so megs, but it will have little rests every
now and then. (what I found on FC2 test 3)
disk space, the new full install is 6.5 gigs.
Are the any problems with dual boot, windows + FC2 I saw that there was
a posting on /. about this today.
Does anyone know anything about this?

You need to increase the maximum hsync. Try 48.5, or go find out
exactly what your display supports.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your help (and others).
I'll give the sync thing a go.
As for finding information... I don't take your comments the wrong way,
I guess I made my google search a bit spicific - I included the model
number and got data for my machine that way.

Thank you to everyone who helped.
I changed the hsync and vsync after looking at what was set on the first
web site I found.
I've also learnt more about the structure of the XConfig86 file thou I
still don't understand all the dependencies and references in that file
properly yet.

As you can see I'm now posting from my Sony Laptop with RH9 installed.
My first big issue is that my screen res seems to be 800*600.
The install program only give me option for 640*480 or 800*600
The Windows Sony configuration program says I have 3mb of video ram.
There was no option to set
try ctl +alt and either the Minus key or the Plus key on the numeric pad.
I fine i have to do this sometimes when i have done a reinstall in the past.
My monitor is a 14¨ AOC int. and an´t supported by MS 98se / MDK / AOC.
Monitor type is a CM-335 and have CM 320 or something else in both MDK

NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me,

I've tried editing the values in XF86Config and changed the 'modes' line
in the display subsection to include 1024x768
This didn't seem to have any impact.
How do I even identify that this file is the one being used as the
configuration?
I also ran the display program in kde which shows me

I'm using a Sony PCG-Z505JE laptop. It doesn't have a numeric pad.

Hi Don,
Welcome back! :-)
RH9 is somewhat old. Twice replace with newer releases (FC1 and, as
of this week, FC2). But that said, I'm posting from a RH9 machine right
now...

Embedded meaning you press function and make the alternate silk-screened
items work (num pad?)?
That is a driver issue, and I very much doubt that Sony

If you are concerned about your hardware coping (and your resolution
problems) and you obviously have a fresh installation, I would recommend
ditching RedHat and installing Mandrake 10.
