How are you restoring the db? I've found the best way is to create a new
application in the new server, including creating a new database. Then
using a batch command similar to below to delete the newly created
database and replace it with the restored database.
cd \Program Files\Common
Is it possible to open up a document library, then actions -- view with
windows explorer and then navigate to the root directory?
Cheers
Craig

It might be a DNS 1lookup issue. That fixed my search errors. I also got
a permission denied

Hello
I am still having this problem, and can now devote some time to tracking
it down. I don't know whether it is my installation
Hi
I' haven't used SPD for a little while. It works fine for most things,
however, when I try and do a couple of things it always crashes. When I
add a custom list form, it crashes, and when I add the fields for a
dataview. Because its been a while since I did these things, I don't
know whether it

I think you can put anchors or some sort of marker that will allow you
to move to different points within your code.
This might help you navigate it.

I have an intranet problem for SharePoint. We have started using tasks
to organize ourselves. I have added a categories field to our task list.
It shows up in outlook when I connect to it. However, the field doesn't
show up in any views on the portals, not when I try and modify a view.
Any ideas?
I'm trying to dredge up things from the recess of my memories. Have a look at
the event log that's being generated when you try and access it externally.
The extended web application might not have the right permissions in IIS.

It might say permission denied for a number of errors, one being that there is
no content for the web app to access.

Yep
Also reinstalling any templates (that stumped me for a bit, I thought I
had corrupted the database)

I think so. I've had to do this before. (Both of your questions) However
I've found the best way of doing this for me was as follows
Delete the site that is broken,
Create a new site, with the port number and URL that you require
Detach the database for the new site via a batch command
Attach
The first thing I would try is creating a new site, and attaching one of
the databases to it. I would also back up, and the restore a databasse,
and sue that for trying to fix the problem ,rather than using a current
content database
Cheers
Craig
