Log4j.xml included here is part of actual xml file. Since I am a developer I
have configured everything on a laptop
hence localhost is seen in log4j.xml i production its different hostname and
Tomcat servers are logging to
remote logserver's rsyslogd daemon successfully.

So I did try it with the double $$ and that still didn't work in the file name.
I am running with beta3. Below are the dependencies in my POM:

OK - I will check the file appender. It may have been the rolling file
appender that was fixed.
