Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Desktop i386 beta 2 workaround for not starting
Thanks. My observations here on LSC of i386 are for Alternate version of 20150328. As a note: I have still one installation left of i386 L.15.04 running without problems. I don't know the date, but it is without any of the following bugs: -unable to install the iso; - the missing software repository in LSC; - the authentication problem for software/driver/additional user installation ; - the volume control right-click not showing alsa-mixer. This installation is still kernel 3.18.0.12 (the latest is 3.19). I have consciously not updated this installation because kernel panic is most likely to occur after a restart. However, besides the authentication bug, I noticed that Lubuntu Software Center with this version only shows the installed software and there is no way to show any other package. Can anybody confirm this? Yes, confirmed, I remember this clearly. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-qa Post to : lubuntu-qa@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-qa More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I reproduced the grpahics not starting and then then I got it to install with adding nocompcache the old name for zram. I tried with adding nocompcache in the boot option line of desktop i386 but this had no effect. In nomodeset attached screen dump is shown after which CD drive stops spinning. Hi, If this is only a matter of testing the installer, once you are on the desktop you can stop zram. In the console, sudo service zram-config stop, then check the swaps: $ cat /proc/swaps $ sudo swapoff /dev/zram0 or both /dev/zram0 and /dev/zram1 if you have several (depending on how many processors seen). Then you can retry the installer and see if it helps (it works) or if it is unrelated (it still doesn't work). Keep checking the /var/crash directory for files. I haven't got Lubuntu running, and don't remember these details (and have no time now to check). Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Desktop i386 beta 2 workaround for not starting
This bug of missing software in the Lubuntu Software Center was found again on i386 alternate version of 20150329. I just learned from bug report #1303056 that 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure lubuntu-software-center' solves this. Henk Terhell schreef op 29-3-2015 om 14:31: The alternate installer works OK. Could you outline the procedure to perform this?
