Bruno,
For the first chord of a piece and other slow chords, I think it would be
best to follow Frescobaldi's advice. Piccinini is careful to recommend the
single blow technique in Chapter XXIX only in Correnti and in other places
where fast movement is needed (nelle Correnti in altri

All,
There is a 1980 L.K. Brown 13C baroque lute available on eBay at the
moment with a buy it now price of $1500. The catch, or maybe not, is
it is a left-handed instrument. I have no interest in it, but thought
someone here might.
Cheers,
Steve

This instrument (http://preview.tinyurl.com/y8jzrg8) is definitely not a
6 course lute as advertised, but could it be a mandora?

As I recall from a different set of photos of the same instrument that were
circulated 1-2 years ago:
the shell and neck from the rear looked pretty old and authentic. The
soundboard is new for sure.

They are as authentic as those of any other Lautenguitarre or the like,
not to say that dreary varnish on the back that has nothing to do with
Joh. Christian Hoffmann whatsoever!
I just wish somebody would buy it as firewood so that it will eventually

I know this comes round fairly regularly, so I'll keep it brief...
Does anyone have the tab part for Betrachte from the John Passion? A friend
has asked me to play it... I'm on 13 courses, D-min...
Thanks!

Well the neck profile is just another feature that gives it away as a
piece of junk. Seriously, there is no point to discuss the thing any
longer, it's not worth it!

I haven't paid attention to it for a long time, but as I recall Italian

courses), with some indications of a 14-course instrument (Praetorius,
