This lute was made in 1991 by John Rollins. It was bought used by a Parisian
school of music for lute courses. As there were no courses any more and the
lute was not played they sold it to make money (for a very low price
indeed). The add, still visible is no longer valid anyway, the instrument
Hello, I want to show you this baroque guitar, just arrived yesterday from
the restorer (Erik-Pierre Hofmann, thanks to him) original baroque guitar
from 1760) French one (made in Marseille, Nice or Lyon ?) and first restored

Hello Sean and all, nice tune on the guitar.
You can adapt a lot of Italian music for this instrument. Pascale Boquet
(lute teacher of the academy of music in Tours and French Lute society
president) made a book of tune for renaissance guitar (vol 18 of French Lute
Society editions), including
Une très importante collection de guitares historiques est mise en vente par

quelques guitares baroques...

I have the same problems, most of the time with music guitarist plays, as
this music is edited by some publishers in guitar transcriptions. They have
a special function looking for every video if it is matching title, music,
composer's name or other meta data, then there is an automatic claim. So
I think there is a piece entitled Tochata in Francisco da Milano's works...

Yes a pity,
but many on the list will be glad we couldn't hear this typical non hip
player, playing late Elizabethan repertoire with thumb under, near the rose
and with nylgut strings...

So I wonder why, from folio 48r to 60 the tab use a low course, some notes
below the fifth line of the tab, often (if not all time ? I have to look
again) open string, and it is not used any more from folio 61 to the end of
tab ? For me this last part of tab is perhaps intended for guitar as the

We had just last week (in France) a course for musicians wanting to play for

workshop for renaissance dance, early Italian with Veronique Daniels

I agree totally with you and I will add: I don't want to spend so much money
in fragile and expensive strings to play most of the time only for myself,
and I dont want to spend so many time to tune my instruments, while my
playing time is limited (as I have a daily job outside of music...).

I'm sorry but my english doesn't allow me to make great dissertations... but
