Hi,
The piece "Maria Zart" is from "Tabulaturen Etlicher lobgesang und
lidlein uff die orgeln und lauten" by Arnolt Schlick, printed 1512.
The organ version is published in "Historical Anthology of Music" (Davidson/Appel)
and the lute pieces are published in "Die Tabulatur" series with german
tab + guitar transcription.
There are two versions of Maria Zarrt, one for organ and one for lute with an
obligato voice. If you look at the lute/voice version you find that the
hymn Maria Zarrt is actually in the lute. I happened to perform the lute/voice
version at a church concert yesterday in Uppsala, Sweden, and we
used a version similar to the approach you can hear on the mp3 file
from Andreas Scholl, i.e. I have "extracted" the Maria tune from the lute voice
for a soprano to sing, and we played the obligato voice on a viol (cornetto also works
well).
I have "my" version of it in Fronimo format and pdf, and if
anyone is interested I could send you a copy. Very beautiful music!
Best regards
Jan Johansson
