I've asked before, and I'd really like to see direct support for pandoc in File | Open/Save or (Import/Export) whatever makes sense --- just install pandoc if it's not available and allow one to directly convert stuff into and out of LyX. I'd be fine w/ a separate menu or menu entry for pandoc
