It seems that I am not able to compile Math.lyx anymore, as pdflatex
sits there forever until I kill it.
I have the same problem now, but not with Math.lyx but with
EmbeddedObjects.lyx
I found this in the latex log file:

Dear Uwe, dear LyX developers,
looking at the latest changes in Math.lyx, I see
1. The protected space before the button-icons replaced by an ordinary space.
This may lead to line breaks before the icon, e.g.

Regarding #9806, LyX 2.2 produces smaller icons. Uwe is concerned that
the smaller icons are not readable. This concerns our manuals when
exported to PDF. Anyone who is interested can take a look at the
before/after PDFs that Uwe has posted (and I can reproduce) here:

It is probable that the toolbar uses a theme icon, and InsetInfo does
not know how to handle that.

Hello,
I just noticed that inset-info does not use the same set of icons as the
toolbar (see redo icon in attached screenshot). Is that to be expected?

I use CMake. The icons are in the directory so it is not clear to me
why they are not found. Naybe it is a problem with the slashes in
the folder?
No, you need gunzip in the PATH. You can download
this path for the icons,
i.e., do not even try to uncompress them.
I pushed a change at 7da981b3 that achieves that goal.
