It would be nice to have a search replace within math mode.
It could work document wide or only in currently focused math-box.
It would allow you to search and replace via latex commands,
for instance, search ^{2} and replace with _{2}.

Maybe the search box itself could have a math-editor

LyX has this. It's called Advanced Find. You can access it through
the edit menu or with ctrl

Interestingly, it seems to already sift through math-code,
but the escaping code is somewhat
messy. For example, if you try to replace \hbar with 'word' it
will work, but if you try to replace
'word' with \hbar it will place \\hbar. I bet _that_ cannot be too
hard

Hi,
I'm a long-time LyX user (and huge fan), and I often work with very large
files with lots of mathematical expressions. It would be hugely useful if
LyX had a search-and-replace feature that looked not just through text, but
also through mathematical expressions. (Or, at the very least, if the

You can do the sr on the .lyx as well. Should be better, as re-import

Yes, that works well...
I know. But I don't have the time.
That's completely understandable...
Thanks,

Hi.. is there any plan for a search/replace for math stuff within LyX?
For example, if I need to change all the L_{abc} to L_{A} then I could
maybe do this with a search/replace feature that looks at math
characters and replaces all such occurences.. I guess I could also
convert to Latex
